The Google and Apple Play store is a huge ecosystem for lots of apps so downloading the right apps requires some guidance.

I have compiled some apps that I have personally reviewed and believe would help you to get the most out of your device.

Without wasting much time let’s delve into the Apps Every Serious Person Should Have

1 . Google Transcribe

This is one of the first apps that I try to download as soon as I get a new phone. It is used to transcribe audio to text and it does so with such accuracy.

There isn’t much to say about this app. I would only recommend you give it a try. You won’t regret it.

The nature of my work demands that I manually translate voluminous amounts of audio to text. Google Transcribe does the work to perfection.

Unfortunately, it isn’t yet available on the IOS however other alternative apps perform the same function.

  1. Microsoft Lens.

There are lots of document scanners on the Google Play Store and the Apple Appstore but after reviewing them, none of these comes close to the Microsoft lens.

I prefer Microsoft Lens because it gives you the added advantage of saving your documents directly to the drive storage. You also get to save scanned items in PDF format or as pictures in JPEG format.

  1. Cloud Storage: One Drive

Speaking of Cloud Storage let’s talk about Onedrive. One drive is owned by Microsoft which means it synchronizes seamlessly across mobile devices and computers.

I can’t count the number of times this app has saved me in meetings when I am supposed to pull up a document from my laptop and it isn’t close to me.

This app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the App Store. What I like best about this app is how it easily integrates with the Files app on my IOS device. I don’t even need to download it.

Downloading the app gives you access to a whopping 5 gigabytes of storage compared to the 2 gigabytes free given by Dropbox. You can also go with Google Drive if you want the additional storage of 15 Gig

  1. Caller ID (Truecaller)

You need this app to identify calls from unsaved numbers. There are lots of Call ID apps out there but the Truecaller app is one of my favorites because it has a huge database of contacts to pull out a name from.

If you receive calls from 100 unknown numbers there is a higher chance that True caller can identify 95 of those calls.

This call ID app also has a spam blocker that can alert you of calls from spam numbers.

The free version has all the necessary features you would need but you can subscribe to their paid plans and enjoy other benefits.

  1. Google Lens

Google Lens is built into the Google app by default so you don’t need to download the app from Play Store.

If you are on IOS then you would need to download the Google app. Google Lens has lots of functionalities. Object Identification, Image Translation, Text Recognition, and Image Searches are made easier thanks to this app.

  1. Keyboard: Gboard

Top mobile phone manufacturing companies like Samsung and Apple these days include their own keyboards in their OS.

Although these keyboards are great they lack in the department of customizability. This is where Gboard comes in.

This Keyboard app offered by Google can learn your typing pattern quickly and deliver accurate predictive texting.

The keys are spacious enough hence making typing very ergonomical. I’ve tried most of the keyboard apps available on the Google Play Store and Apple Store and I can boldly say that I made lesser mistakes when using the Gboard app.

  1. PDF Reader: Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat is my favorite because of its simplicity, nothing more nothing less. It is the PDF reader you can always count on to get the job done.

I stick with Adobe Acrobat because I have been used to it for a long time. Feel free to explore other PDF readers too.

  1. Offline Games: Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey

Nothing feels relaxing like enjoying a simple and engaging offline game while embarking on that long journey. Even without internet access, you can enjoy this game.

The game plays calm and soothing background music that relaxes the nerves. So whether you are out of date or have nothing else to do and just one to pass the time, download this simple game.

In conclusion, the apps you install on your phone are at your own discretion however these are app that promises to get the most out of your phone.

If you are more inclined to be productive then you can’t miss out on any of these apps. Give them a try.
